Forcing Children to Pledge Allegiance Is Undesirable and Unconstitutional. So Why Is It Still Happening?

A 16-year-old junior in Eastern Pennsylvania is suing his school district, alleging that a teacher, in accordance with district policy, required him to stand for the pledge. When the student refused, he was disciplined. Repeatedly. All of this is patently unconstitutional, and any educator—let alone one who works for a government school—should know as much.
