Largely unknown to the broader public, Jon Basil Utley understood the horror of tyranny and the virtues of liberty better than almost anyone. His own father was executed under orders from Stalin in 1938.

A good, decent, dedicated, and principled advocate for peace and liberty, he will be missed.
