President-elect Joe Biden’s choice to head the Department of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has opposed drug testing requirements for potential Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients.

“Folks, we have to…call these people on this notion. We have to say, ‘Don’t tell us this is how to show compassion,’” Vilsack said in 2016 during a speech in which he castigated Republicans for favoring drug testing requirements.
