After footage of dead civilians in the Ukrainian city of Bucha came out, the West immediately pointed the finger at Russia
Ukraine has accused Russian troops of committing war crimes in the city of Bucha near Kiev. Moscow said the allegations were baseless and implied that the Ukrainian government was manipulating the media to smear Russia.
Bucha is a small city of around 35,000 residents, located some 10km northwest of the Ukrainian capital Kiev. From the early days of the Russian attack against Ukraine, it was under the control of Russian troops, but last week they were pulled out.
Days after the withdrawal, Kiev accused the Russian military of committing numerous atrocities in Bucha. Moscow denied the allegations and unsuccessfully called a UN Security Council meeting to discuss what it claims to be a framing attempt.
Russia’s foreign intelligence service earlier warned that Kiev was working to downplay footage of what appeared to be Ukrainian soldiers torturing Russian prisoners of war. The Russian military had warned that provocations could be staged in Ukraine to smear them.
RT (Russia Today) is a state-owned news organization funded by the Russian government. The information provided by this news source is being included by the Libertarian Hub not as an endorsement of the Russian government, but rather because it is being actively censored by Big Tech, Western governments and the corporate press. During times of conflict it is imperative that we have access to both sides of the story so we can form our own opinions, even if both sides are spewing their own propaganda. The censorship of RT, despite likely being a propaganda outfit for the Russian government, reduces our ability to hear one side of the conflict. For that reason, the Libertarian Hub will temporarily republish the RSS feed from RT. Visit https://rt.com
