Video sharing platform Odysee has added a new feature that makes it easy to jump to key moments in long videos – video chapters.

Creators can add video chapters to any of their videos by putting timestamps in their video description in the format “[timestamp] – [chapter title].” For example, adding “[1:30 – Chapter 1”] to a video description will create a “Chapter 1” timestamp in the video at 1:30.

After a creator has added chapters to their video, creators can click or tap the timestamps in the description to jump to specific chapters. These chapters are also highlighted in the video playback bar.

This new timestamp feature works on all videos which means creators can add chapters to their old videos by editing the description and adding timestamps.

The addition of video chapters follows Odysee bringing numerous high profile creators to the platform in recent months including satire site The Babylon Bee, video essay channel Nexpo, Brazil’s biggest podcast Flow, and video game and movie channel Cinemassacre.

The decentralized video sharing platform has also added a new sports category, launched premium plans, and released its Android app this year.

Many creators have embraced Odysee for its pro-free speech stance. It allows a much wider range of topics than YouTube and has committed to adopting a “welcoming stance to creators of all beliefs and persuasions.” Additionally, it’s built on the decentralized, blockchain-based LBRY network which LBRY describes as “the most censorship-resistant system to ever exist for the purposes of publishing digital content.”
