Dave Smith, Scott Horton and I Have a Battle Plan

You may have heard me mention the Loser Brigade.

They’re a group of social media left-libertarians of no distinction whatever — I’m not joking: these people have collectively accomplished zero for libertarianism — who do things like call Ron Paul a nativist and your host here a bad fellow.

For example:

One Loser Brigader told attendees at last year’s Libertarian National Convention that I wanted to make it illegal for women to work outside the home.

Dear listener, have you ever heard or seen me suggest anything even approaching this?

This is one of those hysterical leftist claims that you know to be false without even having to research it.

(Just as I knew that the story about a Klan rally happening at Bowling Green State University had to be false. Nobody who isn’t completely tone deaf — a Klan rally at an American university? — thought that was plausible. And it turned out: the “Klan rally” turned out to be a piece of scientific equipment with a white cover over it that a student had seen through a window.)

Incidentally, check out this video and see if my daughters (the four oldest of whom appear) seem particularly oppressed to you:

Another claims that I have described white supremacy — white supremacy — as “the cause of us all.”

This is insanity.

(I don’t understand why hysterical, everybody-is-a-racist people like this remain in the libertarian movement if alleged “white supremacists” like me are so popular. Wouldn’t they eventually just consider the situation hopeless and give up?)

Normal libertarians wonder, “Why do these people hate Woods, the nicest guy in the world?”

What motivates it, I leave you to decide.

We may as well give it a name, though: Woods Derangement Syndrome.

These are exactly the same people who despise Ron Paul, and of course are deeply envious of his success.

They would slit their own grandmothers’ throats if they could find three people who would so much as cross the street to hear them speak.

Meanwhile, Woods fills up the Rosen Centre for the 1000th episode of the Tom Woods Show, and just received the Hayek Lifetime Achievement Award in Austria — no small honor that, and (I’m going out on a limb here) probably not one typically handed out to “white supremacists.”

This makes them insane.

So what set them off this time?

They discovered that I have a special link that people can use to become members of the Libertarian Party — a link that surely sends a message, I might add.

Like the Libertarian Party or not, the fact is this: it bears the libertarian name. If it’s a disaster, it reflects badly on all of us.

We want to change that.

And we have the numbers to do it.

The Loser Brigade is afraid of the kind of people I might recruit.

Yes, dear reader, they are talking about you.

You are of course a normal person of good will, intelligent and accomplished, and (unlike them) you bear no ill will toward any group whatever.

But they live in a cartoon world in which you and I are villains.

I’ve devoted nearly 20 years of my life to this cause.

When capitalism was blamed for the 2008 financial crisis, I wrote Meltdown, which became a New York Times bestseller, and I was all over the media telling the truth.

What were they doing?

As far as I can see, absolutely nothing. I don’t think I’ve heard a single one of them so much as mention the Fed, ever. Why, it’s not respectable!

I wrote an antiwar book with a man of the left, got it published by Basic Books (a very prominent mainstream publisher), and earned a coveted starred review from Publishers Weekly. Ralph Nader bought 1200 copies.

What did they do (other than flap their gums about reaching out to the left)?

I devoted two years of my life to creating 400 videos on history, from the ancient world to the present, for a homeschool audience. If all of them combined could produce half of what’s at tomwoodshomeschool.com, I owe them a Coke.

What have they done? Where is their homeschool curriculum?

And that’s our advantage in this situation:

They do nothing.

They snipe at Ron Paul and me, but they accomplish nothing.

Meanwhile, the Mises Caucus of the Libertarian Party grows and grows.

And the nerds who long for Bill Weld — if you ever wondered if anyone actually loved Bill Weld, these are the people — don’t know what to do about it.

Folks, you can be with the goody-two-shoes nerds, or you can be with Dave Smith, Scott Horton, and me.

And yes, we’re doing something.

The nerds don’t stand a chance.

Are you with us?

Then go join, and let’s get it done:
