Elon Musk Calls Bill Gates “Underwhelming” After Gates Admits He Drives A Porsche Taycan

Elon Musk’s babiness and petulance seems to know no bounds, even with Tesla stock scorching near all time highs, allowing the billionaire to raise capital for his empire at absurd prices.

But that didn’t stop Musk from taking a jab at follow billionaire Bill Gates – who you may know from running a company that actually consistently gushed tons of cash for decades, Microsoft.

Musk went after the Microsoft founder on Twitter on Tuesday after it was revealed that Gates bought himself a Porsche Taycan (and not a Tesla). 

Gates had revealed his purchase in an interview on YouTube with Marques Brownlee. During the interview, Brownlee had mentioned Tesla and asked Gates about his efforts to combat climate change with clean energy products like electric vehicles. 

Gates said that EVs would still fall behind gas cars when it comes to range, but said that passenger cars were “one of the most helpful” in bringing down the cost of environmentally friendly alternative means of travel. 

“And certainly Tesla, if you had to name one company that’s helped drive that, it’s them,” Gates said, right before saying: “I just got a Porsche Taycan.”

Gates continued, praising the Taycan: “I have to say, it’s a premium-price car but it is very, very cool. That’s my first electric car and I’m enjoying it a lot.”

Musk, likely unable to comprehend why anyone would involve themselves in a discussion about EVs without lopping praise on him and immediately buying his products, took to Twitter to criticize Gates almost immediately. 

In a thread discussing Gates being spotted in the Taycan, Musk wrote that his conversations with Gates had been “underwhelming”:

We don’t understand, Elon. If this is all about saving the planet, why wouldn’t you be praising Gates for buying an EV instead of a traditional ICE vehicle?

Could it be, perhaps, that all of this virtue signaling about saving the world isn’t about that at all, but rather, it’s about Elon Musk?
