China Deploying ‘Duck Army’ To Devour Pakistan’s Biblical Locust Storm: Report
China is reportedly gathering a 100,000-strong army of ducks which they will send to Pakistan to help combat a massive locust infection, according to the Associated Press, citing local media.
The Ningbo Evening News had said the legion of lotus-eating waterfowl would be sent from the eastern province of Zhejiang following the earlier dispatch of a team of Chinese experts to Pakistan to advise on a response to the infestation, which is being called the worst in 20 years. –AP
Phoenix TV, a pro-China website in Hong Kong, said officials with the Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Agricultural Technology were hoping to discuss the mater with researcher Lu Lizhi. Other attempts to confirm the story went unanswered.
This is the second year Pakistan has been invaded by locusts, which have destroyed the country’s cotton crop and is now threatening their wheat harvest.
Locusts are also infesting Saudi Arabia right now.
This is Saudi Arabia right now. These swarms of locusts spread from East Africa and are threatening the food security of the region. The United Nations has called it a looming catastrophe. Others are calling it a biblical sign of the end times. pic.twitter.com/x3ZXbiIBob
