Sweden Sees Economic Growth in 1st Quarter Despite Global Pandemic

The results are a surprise.

Economists had projected a 0.6% contraction in the first quarter, and annual projections were much worse. As recently as April 30, Sweden’s central bank, the Riksbank, was predicting an economic contraction between 6.9 and 9.7 percent for 2020.

Sweden’s GDP growth is a stark contrast to other nations.
