The U.S. federal government dictates virtually everything to the American people today, from the amount of water in their toilets to the kinds of lightbulbs they can use. It was supposed to be the other way around, with we the people dictating the powers of the government.
Dann Reid and I talked about how the American system of government has been flipped on its head in an episode of the Culinary Libertarian podcast. Our discussion centered around my new book, Constitution – Owner’s Manual: The Real Constitution the Politicians Don’t Want You to Know About. We specifically focused on the idea of a “living breathing” Constitution and why the concept is an absurdity and the issue of sovereignty. We also discussed the ratification debates, the intended limits on federal power and what we can do to take back control.
