A group of Republican lawmakers have sent the new Twitter CEO a letter, calling on him to address the platform’s history of biased censorship and make it more pro-free speech. Parag Agrawal, who recently replaced Jack Dorsey as Twitter’s CEO, has in the past made comments indicating he supports more censorship.

13 Republican members of the House’s Data, Big Tech, and Censorship task force sent the letter to Agrawal on December 16.
“We are hopeful that your ascent to the position of CEO will turn a new page at Twitter, which has been marred by acts of censorship,” the letter opened.

The conservative lawmakers noted incidents of biased censorship on the platform, including the permanent banning of Former President Donald Trump, while Iranian dictator Ayatollah Khamenei is allowed to use the platform.

The letter asks Agrawal to specify his stand on censorship, and concludes by asking him several questions, including how he will respect the First Amendment.
