Las Vegas—On Friday, January 7, at 9:30 am PT, Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) Executive Director Cindy Cohn and EFF Special Advisor and sci-fi author Cory Doctorow will present the creepiest, most privacy-invasive, and unsecure consumer tech devices debuting at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
EFF, in partnership with iFixit, USPIRG, and Repair.Org, will unveil their 2022 Worst in Show picks, an annual award given at CES, the massive trade show in Las Vegas where vendors demonstrate the coolest in purportedly life-changing tech gadgets and devices (think movie-streaming sunglasses and color-changing cars).
Not all these products will change our lives for the better. A panel of judges will present the least secure, safe, repairable, and eco-friendly gadgets from the show. Doctorow will emcee the event and will join Cohn and guest judges Nathan Proctor (USPIRG), Gay Gordon-Byrne (Repair.org), Paul Roberts (securepairs), and Kyle Wiens (iFixit) to discuss their selections.
