San Francisco Spent $160 Million Only To Have Homeless People Die In Rat Infested Hotels

San Francisco’s $160 million supportive housing program provides rooms in 70 single-occupancy hotels run by local nonprofits to the city’s homeless in an effort to help them gain enough stability to find their own housing independently. 

The hotels are plagued with crime, violence, drug overdoses, rat infestations and unsanitary living conditions, a San Francisco Chronicle investigation found.
