Rescue services assess the blaze at the highest danger level
A large blaze erupted inside the Grand Setun Plaza office building in Moscow on Friday morning. From 15 to 20 people, according to different sources, could be trapped inside. Around 120 people were rescued from the building by the emergency services. No fatalities have been reported so far. One person has been taken to the hospital.
A video from the scene shows a thick cloud of smoke coming from the facade of the building. The authorities have blocked traffic on the adjacent road.
Helicopters were deployed to drop water on the burning building.
The blaze has engulfed five floors of the building.
The authorities believe the fire was likely caused by a short circuit, Interfax said, citing a person familiar with the matter. Other reports say investigators are checking whether arson was involved.
RT (Russia Today) is a state-owned news organization funded by the Russian government. The information provided by this news source is being included by the Libertarian Hub not as an endorsement of the Russian government, but rather because it is being actively censored by Big Tech, Western governments and the corporate press. During times of conflict it is imperative that we have access to both sides of the story so we can form our own opinions, even if both sides are spewing their own propaganda. The censorship of RT, despite likely being a propaganda outfit for the Russian government, reduces our ability to hear one side of the conflict. For that reason, the Libertarian Hub will temporarily republish the RSS feed from RT. Visit https://rt.com
