Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote the court’s opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, mocked the foreign leaders who criticized the decision in a July 21 speech.
Alito joked that he was deeply hurt by the criticism from foreign leaders during his keynote speech at the Notre Dame Religious Liberty Summit in Rome. By overturning Roe in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case June 24, the court ended a 50-year precedent which struck down any limits on abortion throughout the first six months of pregnancy as unconstitutional.
