Kanye West announces plans to buy Parler

In a press release, Parlement Technologies announced that rapper Kanye West, aka Ye, will acquire and the deal is expected to close before the end of the year.

Parler is a free speech alternative to . Following the January 6, 2021 riot at the US Capitol, the app was removed from Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store.

A few days later, Amazon booted it from its web hosting service.

The platform was back online in February 2021 and is also available on and Apple’s app stores after agreeing to moderate content.

“In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” West said in a statement to the press.

Parlement Technologies said that the acquisition would allow the creation of “an uncancelable ecosystem where all voices are welcome.” After the acquisition, the company will still continue to provide “ongoing technical support” and cloud services through its “private cloud and data center infrastructure.”

Parlement Technologies CEO George Farmer believes that the acquisition will “change the world, and change the way the world thinks about free speech.”

He added: “Ye is making a groundbreaking move into the free speech media space and will never have to fear being removed from social media again. Once again, Ye proves that he is one step ahead of the legacy media narrative. Parlement will be honored to help him achieve his goals.”
