If things are ever going to improve, we need to overcome the very powerful status quo bias that exists among the American population. Most people assume that the way things are is the way they must be, and the best possible way they can be. Here is a case in which one simple change would make virtually everybody involved better off, and the only thing standing in the way is status quo bias.
