Global management and consulting firm McKinsey apologized for its role advising Purdue Pharma, which recently pleaded guilty to criminal charges related to the opioid epidemic.
McKinsey formulated strategies for its client, pharmaceutical company Purdue Pharma, to “turbocharge” sales of OxyContin in the midst of the worsening opioid epidemic, The New York Times reported in November. In a rare move for the consulting giant, McKinsey released a statement Saturday apologizing for collaborating with Purdue.
