Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officials have been instructed to “avoid saying ‘Mexican cartel’ or discussing the Mexican government, or LE cooperation with Mexico” when speaking with the media, according to an internal email exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The reason for the shift in messaging is unclear, but comes as Mexican drug cartels continue to surge drugs across the southern border and adopt more advanced manufacturing and trafficking tactics.
