The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, which licenses doctors, has opened an investigation of Dr. Jeremy Henrichs because he has questioned the value of mask mandates in schools. Henrichs is also a member of the Mahomet-Seymour school board, and his lawyer said this is an effort to intimidate him into backing Gov. Jay Pritzker’s mask mandate. “What the medical disciplinary board wants to know is if the doctor will support and enforce the mask mandate by the governor,” the state investigator handling the case wrote to the lawyer. As a school board member, Henrichs voted earlier this year for a mask optional policy that would impose a mandate if local infections began to rise. That was in line with U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advice at the time. Pritzker later imposed a mask mandate on all schools in the state.
