Blockchain-based video sharing platform Odysee has added lots of new creators from a wide variety of niches to its platform. Many of these new creators have millions of collective subscribers and have switched to Odysee after facing YouTube censorship.
Odysee’s new channels include Brazil’s biggest podcast Flow (3.76 million subscribers), video game and movie channel Cinemassacre (3.59 million YouTube subscribers), internet, pop culture, and gaming commentator SomeOrdinaryGamers (3.17 million YouTube subscribers), Chinese politics and news channel China Uncensored (1.74 million subscribers), internet, pop culture, and gaming commentator Optimus (1.22 million subscribers), political commentary channel The Majority Report w/ Sam Seder (1.17 million YouTube subscribers), science, technology, engineering, and maths channel Zach Star (1 million YouTube subscribers), pop culture and meme culture channel EmpLemon, American politics and news channel America Uncovered (486,000 subscribers), political commentator Destiny (419,000 YouTube subscribers), documentary channel Glink (408,000 YouTube subscribers), cryptocurrency entrepreneur and commentator Richard Heart (130,000 YouTube subscribers), and gaming channel GTV Japan (36,500 YouTube subscribers).
Unlike YouTube, which has continuously widened the scope of its censorship and censored numerous creators, Odysee has embraced free speech and adopted a welcoming stance to “creators of all beliefs and persuasions.”
The addition of these new creators follows Odysee adding several other high profile creators, such as activist, author, and public speaker Maajid Nawaz, former congressman Dr. Ron Paul, and the Frontline COVID-19 Critical Care doctors, to its platform over the last year.
Odysee has also launched its full-featured Android app and introduced premium plans in recent months.
According to web analytics service SimilarWeb, the platform had 34.1 million visitors in March which is an 11% increase over January.
