China’s Cyberspace Administration has ordered every website in the country that allows comments to review them before they are posted. Those sites must require those posting comments to submit their real names and verify their identities. Moderators must flag any potentially illegal posts. The new rules are apparently a reaction to online criticism of the government’s continued efforts to battle COVID-19 with lockdowns.
