Twitter’s former head of legal, policy, and trust Vijaya Gadde is likely to be investigated by House Republicans once they take charge of committees in January.
Internal Twitter documents, “The Twitter Files,” dropped by journalist Matt Taibbi, confirmed that Gadde played a key role in the censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story ahead of the 2020 election.
“We’re tracking Vijaya Gadde’s role in the suppression of the New York Post story on Hunter Biden’s laptop. We absolutely plan to investigate this more. Stay tuned,” a House Judiciary Committee spokesperson said to the Post itself.
Rep. James Comer, who will chair the House Oversight Committee said that anyone involved in the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story would be brought in.
“In January, when I become chairman of the House Oversight Committee, I can promise you this: every employee at Twitter that was involved in suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story will have an opportunity to come before Congress and explain their actions to the American people,” Comer said in an interview on Fox News.
Gadde was fired by Elon Musk shortly after he took over the company. Gadde serves in an advisory committee at the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and joined a year after she censored the Hunter Biden story.
The agency said that Gadde would provide recommendations to the agency on how to better “combat misinformation and disinformation.”
In June, Gadde and her colleagues in the committee wrote a report that encouraged the government to expand its role in influencing the “information ecosystem” and recommended that the agency should monitor “social media platforms of all sizes, mainstream media, cable news, hyper partisan media, talk radio and other online resources.”
