Greta Thunberg Gets TV Show
Greta Thunberg is getting her own show on the BBC, according to The Wrap, which reports that the project was announced on Monday at the BBC Showcase trade show.
The series will document the 17-year-old High School dropout’s journey around the globe, admonishing everyone for their pollution, except the world’s largest polluters – India and China, who get a pass.
Per the BBC’s science unit:
“The series will follow Greta’s international crusade, which takes her to the front line of climate change in some of the most extraordinary places on earth, as she explores what actions could be taken to limit climate change and the damage it causes.
As she travels Greta meets not only leading scientists but political leaders and business heavyweights, exploring the scientific evidence with them and challenging them to change.
The films will also charts her own journey into adulthood as she continues to be confronted by the real world consequences of inaction; and will share some of the quiet moments as she writes the impactful speeches that are now broadcast and analysed around the world, as she lives a teenage life like no other.”
Greta is no stranger to the limelight, as she has had a professional film crew “following Thunberg from her early school strike in Stockholm all the way to parliaments and massive international protests” for a forthcoming documentary on HULU tentatively titled ‘Greta,’ which is set to air in 2020, according to Deadline.
All of this of course begs the question as to whether Greta’s famous parents – opera singer Malena Ernman and actor Steve Thunberg – used their industry connections to prepare their daughter to become a celebrity? As RT noted in December, “Her rise has been meticulously choreographed, her school strike made famous on its first day by Ingmar Rentzhog of the climate change social network ‘We Don’t Have Time.’ Rentzhog, already friends with Thunberg’s parents, has already been accused of using the girl’s image to raise millions of dollars for his company – making her a household name in the process.”
Either way, the guiltings shall continue in HD. You can avoid them by either moving to China or joining the carbon-free cult.
