President Donald Trump is trying to advance two conflicting narratives about the US economy. On the one hand, he continues to insist that the US economy is “sooo strong.” On the other, the president continues to call for and get the kind of Keynesian monetary and fiscal stimulus one would expect to see in the depths of a deep recession.
