Our Civil Liberties Conference Continues Tonight

Our online Zoom conference “Restoring Civil Liberties” continues this evening at 7 p.m. ET with a presentation by Richard Ebeling entitled “Civil Liberties and Economic Liberty.” Richard, who co-hosts The Libertarian Angle with me and is also a contributor to our monthly journal Future of Freedom, is one of the best and most knowledgeable speakers in the libertarian movement. I am certain you are going to enjoy this talk.

One of the things that progressives and leftists just don’t get is the importance of economic liberty, which is one of the principal tenets of libertarianism. Progressives and leftists, who generally are ardent proponents of civil liberties, just can’t see that their economic philosophy of socialism and interventionism destroys the foundation of civil liberties.

Richard will explain how economic liberty is absolutely essential to civil liberties. Without the former, you’re not going to have the latter.

Richard is the BB&T Distinguished Professor of Ethics and Free Enterprise Leadership at The Citadel. Before that, he was the Ludwig von Mises Professor of Economics at Hillsdale College and then the president of The Foundation for Economic Education. There are few people who understand the principles of the Austrian school of economic thought better than Richard. He is the author of many books and articles on free-market economics.

Longtime supporters of FFF know that ever since our inception, we have taken a leading role in the libertarian movement in the defense of civil liberties. Richard, who served as FFF’s vice-president of academic affairs when we got started and for many years after that, has played a major role in that effort with many articles on the importance of civil liberties. He is the perfect person to integrate both civil liberties and economic liberty.

If you’re not registered, you can do so at our conference web page. You will then receive a Zoom link. Admission: FREE. If you’re already registered, you will receive a reminder and a Zoom link later today.

Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Time. The talk will be around 45 minutes to  hour long, followed by Q&A. I will be the moderator. I hope to see you there!
