In July 1997, Solomon Montagueo was charged with conspiracy to distribute multiple kilograms of cocaine base, and possession with the intent to distribute 2.3 grams of cocaine base. He was found guilty on both counts, and sentenced to life plus 30 years in federal prison. He was able to gain his freedom thanks to the 1st Step Act after serving 28.5 years.
